Vernon L. Skinner Jr
Vern’s nterest in genealogy stems from his roots in the southern part of the Delmarva Peninsula. Exploring the lines of his own ancestors, and arriving at the proverbial brick walls, he began compiling the abstracts of the source records, which today have come into heavy usage. His abstracts of inventories, administration accounts, and balances of final distributions for Provincial Maryland has been especially notable. Vern is also the editor of first volume of Provincial Families of Maryland and has contributed as a co-author to several of the books in the Colonial Families of the Eastern Shore of Maryland series.

As past president of the Maryland Genealogical Society (1995-1997), writer for the Society’s periodical, and program chairman of the "Meet Me in St. Mary’s" conference, Mr. Skinner has been a major contributor to the Society’s progress and to the research of Maryland families in general. He is a member of the Upper Shore Genealogical Society, Sons of American Revolution, Genealogical Council of Maryland and a volunteer for German Research and Eastern Shore Research at the Kensington Family History Center in Kesington, MD.
